Keeping  Up With The Joneses has been touted as Barbados’s first sitcom. The show follows the day to day life of the Jones family as they allow a camera crew, via contract with a European film production company (Sailbourne Entertainment) into their home in exchange for $10 000. Though reluctant at first, Mrs. Jones allows her husband to convince her to go along with the gig which at times becomes very intrusive.

The shooting style of the show follows the likes of The Office, in that mockumentary fashion, where after certain ‘takes’ a member of the family explains to you, the viewer, what took place.

The sitcom, due to premier this month has signed a deal with Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC Barbados) and will also be aired on CaribVision, the Caribbean Media Corporation’s (CMC) 24 hr cable channel available in 21 Caribbean territories.

Much like the collaboration of New Caribbean Cinema, Hall-e-Wood Productions and Blue Light Media has come together to create unique Caribbean narratives in the television industry, piercing the saturating images of the North American and European media and their geographical markets.

Ventures such as Keeping Up with the Joneses and New Caribbean Cinema are paving the way for Caribbean media and revolutionizing and sharing the Caribbean experience with audiences who would otherwise not have an source from which to draw from.
